Message from the Registrar – September 7, 2023

Sep 7, 2023 | General Advisories for Registrants

BLS Certification

Dear Registrants,

I hope this finds you well and that the summer was restful despite the various challenges that plagued our province since May.

This is a reminder that, as outlined in July 2023 Board Business, all dentists will be required to upload a copy of their valid BLS (or ALS/PALS) certificate as part of the online license renewal process in the fall. The same will be true for the RDA licence renewal process in the spring.

BLS certification will have to be current at the time of license renewal. It will not be possible to complete license renewal without this.

We are in the final stages of migrating our database to a new platform and in the coming weeks will be sharing details about how registrants will need to interact with this platform for profile updates and license renewal (as well as other tasks eventually).

Please periodically check your “junk”/”spam” email folders in case important licensing-related correspondence finds its way there.

Sincerely,
Dr. Doug Mackey, DDS
Registrar

About

The Nova Scotia Regulator of Dentistry and Dental Assisting (NSRDDA) is the legislated body whose role it is to protect the public interest in matters related to dental care. We do this by:

  • ensuring that only qualified individuals are licensed as dentist and dental assistants,
  • establishing standards of practice, and
  • dealing with complaints related to standards of care, professionalism, and ethics.”
