Message from the Registrar – November 2, 2023

Nov 2, 2023 | General Advisories for Registrants

Dear Dentists,

Thank you to all of you who have completed or are in the process of completing your license renewal. We appreciate your patience with some minor glitches. As I heard Jane say on the phone this week, “We are learning to use this new system at the same time as you.”

As of today, there are still 30 dentists who have yet to activate their Alinity account which must be done before license renewal can take place. As was mentioned earlier, due to administrative steps which must take place once the renewal form is submitted, we cannot guarantee that renewal forms submitted after November 10 will be approved and finalized before November 30.  The Dental Act requires us to strike from the Register any dentist whose license has not been renewed or relinquished by November 30.

If you cannot locate the previously sent emails regarding this process (which have hyperlinks for account activation and renewal), please reach out to our IT consultant, Chris, at feedback.pdbns@eastlink.ca.

Also related to license renewal, there is a small number of dentists who have been caught off guard by the requirement to upload verification of current CPR/BLS certification.  (This is not the same as the course on the Management of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office which is a different requirement under the MCDE Guidelines.) For anyone without current certification, we are aware that Frontline Medical is offering courses next week, and there are undoubtedly other avenues to obtain this.

Thanks once again for your engagement with this process.

Sincerely,
Dr. Doug Mackey, DDS
Registrar
