Dr. Daniel Tam
The Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint against Dr. Daniel Tam, and pursuant to the Dental Act, the Discipline Committee of the Dental Board approved a Settlement Agreement on May 28, 2021.
The Settlement Agreement contains Dr. Tam’s admissions of unprofessional conduct in relation to his treatment of a patient. Dr. Tam admits that:
- His recordkeeping did not meet the standard of practice;
- He failed to properly diagnose and treat a patient’s odontogenic pain;
- He failed to properly perform fixed prosthodontic treatment for a tooth; and;
- He failed to properly perform the extraction of a third molar.
The Settlement Agreement also contains agreed upon sanctions, including:
- A written reprimand from the Discipline Committee;
- The requirement that Dr. Tam successfully complete a remedial education program through the Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, which will include the following modules:
- Oral Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, and Record Keeping;
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery; and
- Fixed Prosthodontics.
- Monitoring of Dr. Tam’s practice of dentistry by the Dental Board for a period of two (2) years.
